Kids Mode
Apple TV
Give children their own Home screen, filter search by age rating, and lock Settings behind a passcode.
- Go to Settings then Parental Controls then Set Up Passcode and choose a four-digit passcode.
- Turn on Kids Mode.
- Set up Kid-Safe Shelves: the rows Home shows while Kids Mode is on. These are the strict filter: children see only what's in them.
- Set Maximum Maturity to limit what Search finds: All Ages, Older Kids, Parental Guidance, Teens or Mature.
About age ratingsMaximum Maturity uses TMDB's US ratings, and titles TMDB hasn't rated still appear in search. Adult titles are always hidden. That's why the shelves, not the rating, are the strict filter.
While Kids Mode is on, Explore is hidden and Settings asks for the passcode. It applies to the Apple TV profile that's in use, so each person in the house can have their own.
To change the passcode or switch it all off: Parental Controls then Passcode → Change Passcode or Turn Off Parental Controls.
